Can you say Fire...?
This four show run at the Auditorium Theatre (such a creative and unique name) in Chicago, IL. is superb! Each show has something unique to offer. Though the Jed is slow and Eyes super fast (the jam in the Eyes is superb) there are some nuggets of awesomeness that awaits you. Like the 1st Fire on the Mountain!!! Though it’s a jam concealed in a short lived title of Happiness is Drumming, this is clearly the blueprint for what eventually will be FotM. To me the standout tune of this bicentennial year and this show is the Wheel. I know that they’ve played this so many times over the years, but the versions in the Beacon, Passaic, Philly and Chicago are some of the greatest versions IMHO. The matrix of this show makes me feel like I am there. But everyone and their grandmother raves about the 29th, which is a giant of a superb show. The NFA encore is awesome. Man ‘76 has some awesome funky arrangements to their shows, experimental yet groovin and Jerry’s vocals are so heartfelt. Donna sounds like she belongs with the band, this is the reason they hired her. They’re listening really well with each other so the twists and turns of the tunes result in some of the tightest grooves they’ve ever dug. Solid show awesome tunes, great vibes. I’m grateful to all who made the music and to those who are responsible for recording, editing, fine tuning and posting the shows here and especially this matrix here. Happy listening, peace!
